The manufacturing, inventory and supply chain world has been turned on its ear by new technology. ZDNet’s Larry Dignan spoke with Target CIO Beth Jacob, who said the customer experience and supply chain in particular tie together. With this in mind, organizations may want to invest in an inventory management system or similar technology to be able to meet modern challenges head-on.
“One of the things that we’re doing is working to even more fully integrate our entire network of supply chains and capabilities, from our import warehouses to the back of our store,” Jacob said.
This side of business must work closely with C-level executives to ensure all areas of the enterprise are converging to be as strategic as possible. This will help organizations bring information together to see what the best next move will be as a company instead of as individual departments.
A barcode inventory system is another modern option for companies. Multichannel Merchant said organizations can quickly and accurately capture data, become more productive and improve decision making by scanning items as they move through the supply chain process.
